In this weeks podlet, I talk about the idea of "false confidence" and the illusion that we often feel that we are in control, when really we are not.
So, in the end is confidence really something that is usefull? How can we tell the difference if we are truely confident about something or falsely confient about something. Some of my thoughts
Characterisitcs of False Confidence
- You are sure you are right, and will fight to prove you point, and raise your voice to stress it
- You have the thought, "Nothing bad can possibly happen"
- You feel you are in contro, but you have no "plan" or "thought" of what you would do "IF..happens"
- You are unwilling to accept alternate points of view, or push down thoughts that disagree with your own
Characterisitcs of True Confidence
- You accept the possibilty you could be wrong (you feel humble)
- You can easily accept constructive critisism
- You do not feel you need to argue your point, you feel it stands well enough on it's own
- You know the true facts that back up your assertions/feelings
