Description:

What is Firefox?

Are you are new to web browsing?. Perhaps, you just bought you new computer or recently connected to the internet?..Perhaps not, perhaps you've become quite savvy on you windows based machine.

Whatever you situation, I can pretty much bet you are using Internet Explorer as your web browser. Just like you probably did not choose to use Windows you probably did not use your web browser.

Firefox is a web browser, it lets you view internet pages. So you may ask yourself, I can already do that !. Why should I get another program to do this?

Unlike, other sites you may read, I am not going to try and pursuade you to switch. I know that you will switch once the pain of staying with IE becomes obvious to you. I am going to ask then you bookmark this page. So that when you do decide to change, you will come here to do it.

I use both Firefox, and IE on a daily basis. The biggest feature I love about Firefox is the buit in spell checking. Firefox will underline words for me that I spell wrong on forms, and since I can't spell to save my life.. This literally is a life saving feature.

Today, IE has most of (if not all the features of Firefox). Popup blocker, tabbed windows, etc. To be fair Firefox had these features first. But IE does catch up eventually.

Is Firefox more secure?, I suppose it depends. Both IE and Firefox have their share of vulnerabilities, and both will update automatically. As programmer myself, I perfer the security structure Firefox has designed from the start, so I would personally trust it more, but again you should choose what works best for you.

I guess in the end, it comes down to choice. I would suggest at least trying Firefox, Does it load you webpage faster? Is it more intuitive, How does it work for you. If you don't try it, you may never know what you are missing. If you don't try it you are making a choice, a choice to use Microsoft, and there is nothing wrong with that. But if you are tired, fed up, or just want to try something different, might I suggest...
